Privacy · built into the frame

Privacyyou can see.

A camera on your face affects everyone you look at. Rune handles that in the hardware, where it can be checked, rather than in a setting that can be changed.

What people around you see

If the camera is on, the light is on.

The camera sits in one upper rivet and the privacy LED in the matching rivet on the other side. The LED is wired to camera power, so no app or update can turn the camera on without it.

Camera off. LED off. The frame looks like ordinary glasses.

Commitments in the hardware

Four things the design guarantees.

  • A light that can't be switched off

The LED shares the camera's power line. Software has no way to run one without the other.

  • Capture only when you ask

A press of the capture button takes a photo and asks. A long press starts video mode. You choose every capture.

  • A display only you can read

The waveguide sends light toward your eye only. From the front or side the lens looks clear, so nobody can read your answers.

  • Hide it in one tap

Double-tap the touch strip to hide the display. It comes back where you left off for the next 10 minutes.

Where an image goes

Three steps, no router.

  1. Glasses to phonePhotos go over Bluetooth 5.3 and video frames over Wi-Fi Direct, straight to the phone. No home or public network sits in between.
  2. Phone to AIWhen you are online, the phone app sends the image and your question to a frontier AI model.
  3. OfflineWithout a connection, a local model on the phone answers instead.
